Frank Baumholtz (1918–1997)

Frank Baumholtz was a Major League Baseball outfielder born in Midvale. He played eleven seasons in the majors between 1947 and 1957 for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies, finishing with a career batting average of .290.

Baumholtz was also a two-sport college athlete at Ohio University and briefly played professional basketball for the Youngstown Bears and the Cleveland Rebels of the Basketball Association of America (a precursor to the NBA) before settling on baseball as his career.
