Conformance
The Village of Midvale website is designed to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with Level AAA where reasonable — particularly color contrast.
The site is also intended to satisfy the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and to meet the de facto expectations of the Americans with Disabilities Act for state and local government digital services.
What we've done
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first focusable element on every page.
- Heading levels in correct order, with one
<h1>per page. - Form inputs always have visible labels and clear error messages.
- All non-decorative images include meaningful
alttext. - Color is never the only means of conveying information.
- Keyboard-only navigation works on every page.
- Semantic HTML throughout; ARIA used sparingly and only where semantic HTML can't.
